Bouquet & Bout

When Martha introduced America to hand-tied bouquets, this design style became THE wedding bouquet style that has been on trend for over a decade. In this class you will learn the basic techniques used to arrange flowers together into clutch bouquets designed to drop into any vase. Make gift bouquets for friends or to provide lovely flowers in your home. You’ll create a hand-tied clutch bouquet — one of the same techniques used for brides’ bouquets — to put in an included vase. This is a great technique to learn what to do with those bunches you buy at the florist, farmers markets, and grocery stores.  You will also learn how to make a basic boutonniere. This class is suitable for beginners.

Designing in Foam

While we prefer to design in an eco-friendly way, without foam and by using other techniques to hold blooms in place, we realize that some designs do require wet foam to hold the stems and other things, such as taper candles, in place.  This class will feature seasonal flowers designed using wet floral foam mechanics.

Asian Floral Design

Asian Floral Design – Ikebana Inspiration

The graceful and minimalist art of Ikebana is our inspiration in this class. You will learn the artistic elements and design techniques for our interpretation of this classic Japanese design. One of the joys of this design style is that it focuses on the flowers and the design, requiring very few flowers and foliage, making it very artful and cost-effective. This class is a wonderful choice for hobbyists who want to arrange flowers from their own garden or who want to pick up a small bouquet of flowers to grace their homes or give as a gift.  For those planning weddings, this style of floral design provides an artistic centerpiece for low cost, allowing you to avoid the typical look of budget arrangements.

This class will review the types of containers, mechanics, and design elements found in Asian design.
